Exams
Renting an instrument for an ABRSM grade.
A recurring one, and a sensible thing to do. Practising for a graded exam on an instrument that will not hold its tuning, or whose action is nothing like the one in the exam room, costs a candidate marks that have nothing to do with how well they play.
People take an instrument for the couple of months before a grade, and a good number of them are choosing between two or three. That is a decision to make with your hands, not from a list.

What does piano rental cost in Singapore?
It depends on four things, and any price quoted without them is a guess: the instrument, how long you need it, where it is going and how it gets in.
An upright in a lift accessible flat for several months is a very different job from a grand carried into a ballroom for one evening and taken out the same night. Send those four answers and you get a real number back.
Can I rent for a single event?
Yes. Recitals, weddings, corporate evenings, shoots and recordings are a regular part of the work. Delivery, setup, tuning on site and collection afterwards are quoted with the instrument.
Do you tune it after delivery?
A piano that has just been moved needs tuning once it has settled in the room. For events that means tuning on site ahead of the performance. It is quoted as part of the job rather than added later.
Can I rent first and buy later?
Ask when you enquire. It is a common way to start when a child has only just begun lessons and nobody wants to commit to an instrument yet.
What do you need to know about access?
Whether there is a lift and whether the piano fits it, the number of steps if there is not, door widths, and where the piano will finally stand. Access is what changes the crew and the price, so it is better known before a date is held than discovered on the day.
How far ahead should I book an event piano?
As early as you have the date. Weekend event dates go first, and the right instrument for a hall is not always the one that is free.
